Mesobotox (Microbotox) in Delhi: Benefits, Results, Cost & Safety

Mesobotox—also commonly called Microbotox, and sometimes encountered as “skin Botox” or Dermotox—is a superficial microdroplet botulinum-toxin technique used for selected skin-quality concerns such as visible pores, excess oiliness, fine superficial lines and subtle textural refinement.
 
Unlike conventional Botox treatment, where botulinum toxin is usually placed into selected facial muscles to reduce movement-related wrinkles, Mesobotox uses multiple very small injections placed within or immediately beneath the skin. The treatment objective is therefore different: rather than primarily weakening a particular muscle, Mesobotox is intended to influence selected superficial structures while preserving natural facial expression.
 
Mesobotox is also sometimes marketed as “Baby Botox” or “glass-skin Botox,” but these terms can be misleading. The dose, dilution, injection depth, distribution, treatment area and clinical objective matter more than the marketing name.

What Is Mesobotox or Microbotox?

Mesobotox is a technique in which small quantities of diluted botulinum toxin are delivered through multiple superficial or intradermal microinjections across a selected treatment area.
 
It differs from conventional neuromodulator treatment principally in the injection plane, distribution and treatment objective.
 
Traditional botulinum-toxin treatment usually targets specific muscles responsible for dynamic facial lines. Mesobotox distributes much smaller superficial droplets, where treatment may influence superficial muscle fibres, sebaceous activity and other factors associated with skin texture and pore appearance.
 
Published medical literature uses several related terms, including:
  • Microbotox;
  • Mesobotox;
  • microdroplet botulinum toxin;
  • intradermal botulinum toxin; and
  • superficial botulinum-toxin treatment.
“Skin Botox” and “Dermotox” are also encountered in international aesthetic practice, particularly in Asian treatment markets, but terminology is not completely standardised.
 
The precise technique therefore matters more than the name.
 

Is Hyaluronic Acid Part of Mesobotox?

Not by definition.
 
Mesobotox should not be defined simply as a combination of botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid.
 
Botulinum toxin is the defining component of the Microbotox/Mesobotox technique. Some clinicians may combine or sequence it with other injectable skin-quality treatments, but that does not make hyaluronic acid an inherent component of Mesobotox itself.
 
This distinction is clinically important because superficial neuromodulation, skin hydration and facial volume are different treatment objectives.
 
If dehydration or reduced skin hydration is the dominant concern, skin booster treatment may be more appropriate than Mesobotox.

Mesobotox, Microbotox and Baby Botox: Are They the Same?

These terms are frequently mixed together in consumer aesthetics, but they do not always describe exactly the same treatment.
 
Mesobotox and Microbotox generally refer to a superficial or intradermal microdroplet technique.
 
Baby Botox, by contrast, is commonly used to describe treatment in which smaller doses of botulinum toxin are placed into selected muscles to produce a subtler reduction in movement.
 
The terminology is not internationally standardised. Patients should therefore ask what is actually being injected, where it is being placed and what the treatment is intended to achieve, rather than relying on the label alone.

“Which name is better?”
It is:
“Which injection technique is appropriate for the problem I am trying to treat?”

How Is Mesobotox Different From Conventional Botox?

Conventional botulinum-toxin treatment primarily targets muscle activity.
 
This is particularly useful for dynamic wrinkles that become more visible when frowning, raising the eyebrows or smiling.
 
Mesobotox is different because the product is distributed much more superficially. This may make it useful when the treatment goal relates more to sebum, pore appearance, superficial texture or very fine lines than to strong underlying muscle movement.
 
Patients whose dominant concern is movement-related forehead lines, frown lines or crow’s feet may therefore be better suited to conventional Botox treatment in Delhi rather than Mesobotox.
 
Neither technique is inherently better.
 
They address different treatment objectives.
 
Clinical decision point: At The Face Clinic, treatment selection begins by deciding whether the visible concern is being driven primarily by muscle activity, skin surface behaviour, structural volume loss, pigmentation or laxity. Mesobotox is considered only when its superficial mechanism matches the problem being treated.

What Can Mesobotox Help Improve?

Current research suggests that intradermal botulinum toxin may improve several skin-quality parameters in appropriately selected patients.
 
However, the evidence base remains relatively small and treatment protocols vary considerably. Mesobotox should therefore be presented as a specialised option with promising evidence, not as a universal or guaranteed skin treatment.
 

1. Visible Pore Appearance

Mesobotox is frequently investigated for prominent facial pores.
 
Botulinum toxin does not permanently “close” or erase pores. Pores are normal anatomical structures.
 
However, changes in sebaceous activity and superficial skin behaviour may make pores appear less prominent in selected patients.
 
This distinction matters.
 
The clinical objective is improvement in pore appearance, not artificially poreless skin.
 
Clinical perspective: A patient describing “large pores” does not automatically need Mesobotox. Pore visibility can coexist with excess sebum, acne scarring, sun-related skin change or reduced dermal support. Identifying the dominant reason for the texture change is more important than treating the word “pores.”
 

2. Oily Skin and Excess Sebum

One of the better-supported potential applications of intradermal botulinum toxin is temporary reduction in sebaceous activity.
 
Patients in whom excessive facial shine or oiliness is an important component of the concern may notice improvement after treatment.
 
Mesobotox should not, however, replace appropriate treatment for acne or evaluation of another condition contributing to excessive sebum.
 

3. Fine Superficial Lines

Very fine superficial lines may improve after Mesobotox, particularly where superficial muscle activity contributes to their appearance.
 
Deeper dynamic wrinkles caused predominantly by stronger muscle contraction usually require a different treatment strategy.
 

4. Skin Texture

Some clinical studies report improvement in skin texture after intradermal botulinum-toxin treatment.
 
The change is generally subtle and should not be confused with resurfacing treatments used for true acne scarring, significant photodamage or deeper textural irregularity.
 

5. Selected Lower-Face or Neck Refinement

Microbotox techniques have also been investigated for selected lower-face and neck indications.
 
Some patients may notice mild contour refinement through effects on superficial fibres and platysmal activity.
 
However, Mesobotox should not be presented as a substitute for treatment of significant skin laxity, jowling, deeper tissue descent or facial volume loss.

What Does the Scientific Evidence Say About Mesobotox?

The evidence for Mesobotox is promising but still evolving.
 
2024 systematic review and meta-analysis of 10 studies involving 153 participants assessed intradermal botulinum toxin for facial rejuvenation and skin-quality outcomes.
 
The review reported favourable findings for measures including:
  • sebum production;
  • pore appearance;
  • skin texture;
  • facial wrinkles;
  • skin elasticity; and
  • selected facial-lifting measurements.
However, the authors also found that the available evidence did not reach the information size required for definitive conclusions.
 
Importantly, the analysis did not demonstrate a significant improvement in skin hydration.
 
This is another reason Mesobotox should not be described primarily as a hydration treatment.
 
A separate review of the Microbotox microdroplet technique and a 2022 review of published Microbotox studies also demonstrate considerable variation in:
  • botulinum-toxin formulation;
  • concentration;
  • dilution;
  • dose;
  • injection depth;
  • spacing;
  • number of treatment points; and
  • treatment area.
There is therefore no single universally standardised Mesobotox protocol.
 
A doctor-led treatment plan should be based on anatomy, indication, product characteristics and clinical judgement rather than on a generic injection recipe.

What Mesobotox Does Not Treat

Understanding when not to use Mesobotox is just as important as knowing what it may improve.
 

Significant Dynamic Wrinkles

Strong forehead lines, frown lines or crow’s feet driven predominantly by muscle movement usually require conventional muscle-directed neuromodulator treatment.
 
Mesobotox should not be used simply because it sounds like a “lighter” version of conventional Botox.
 

Facial Volume Loss

Hollow cheeks, facial deflation, reduced structural support or loss of facial volume cannot be restored by Mesobotox.
 
Where clinically appropriate, dermal fillers or another structural treatment may be considered.
 

Significant Skin Laxity or Tissue Descent

Mesobotox may produce subtle superficial refinement in selected patients, but it is not a true lifting treatment for significant laxity, jowling or deeper tissue descent.
 
Patients whose primary concern is loose or sagging skin may require assessment for skin tightening treatments or another lifting strategy.
 

Pigmentation

Mesobotox is not primarily a pigmentation treatment.
 
Melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation and other causes of uneven skin colour require diagnosis and pigment-directed management.
 

Acne Scarring

Reducing the visibility of pores is not the same as treating true acne scars.
 
Atrophic, rolling, boxcar and ice-pick scars require scar-specific assessment.
 

Dehydrated Skin

Mesobotox should not be considered a substitute for treatments designed specifically to improve hydration.
 
If dehydration is the dominant concern, another skin-quality strategy may be more appropriate.
 
Clinical decision point: The fact that several concerns are all described by patients as “skin texture” does not mean they should receive the same treatment. Pores, scars, pigmentation, dehydration and laxity have different underlying mechanisms and should be treated accordingly.

Does Mesobotox Work Differently in Indian Skin?

Mesobotox does not become a fundamentally different procedure simply because a patient has Indian skin.
 
The more important question is what is causing the visible concern.
 
In Indian patients, as in other populations, visible pores or uneven-looking texture can coexist with several separate issues, including:
  • increased sebaceous activity;
  • acne or a previous history of acne;
  • post-inflammatory pigmentation;
  • acne scarring;
  • sun-related skin changes; and
  • loss of dermal support.
Mesobotox may be considered when sebum, pore appearance or selected superficial lines are important components of the concern.
 
It should not be expected to correct melanin-related pigmentation, established acne scars or meaningful structural laxity.
 
This distinction is particularly important in skin of colour, where unnecessary inflammation from inappropriate treatment may itself be undesirable.
 
The treatment plan should therefore be based on the clinical cause of the concern rather than on ethnicity alone.

Mesobotox for Pores and Oily Skin in Delhi

Patients frequently use terms such as “open pores,” “uneven texture,” “oily skin” or “makeup not sitting smoothly” to describe concerns that may have very different causes.
 
In Delhi, environmental exposure, skincare practices, previous acne and individual sebaceous activity may all form part of the clinical history, but they do not automatically make Mesobotox the correct treatment.
 
The assessment should establish whether the visible concern is primarily related to:
  • excess sebum;
  • true acne scarring;
  • pigmentation;
  • dehydration;
  • photodamage;
  • loss of structural skin support; or
  • a combination of these factors.
Mesobotox is most logically considered when oiliness, visible pore appearance or selected superficial lines are meaningful components of the problem.
 
This assessment-led approach avoids choosing a treatment simply because “Mesobotox for pores” or “glass-skin Botox” is currently popular online.

Which Areas Can Be Treated With Mesobotox?

Depending on the indication and individual anatomy, treatment may be considered for selected areas including:
  • forehead;
  • cheeks;
  • lateral face;
  • selected periocular areas in carefully assessed patients;
  • lower face;
  • jawline region; and
  • neck.
Not every area is appropriate for every patient.
 
Because small changes in dose, depth or diffusion can influence nearby muscles, detailed anatomical knowledge is particularly important around the eyes, mouth, lower face and neck.
 
Mesobotox around the periocular region should not be interpreted as a general treatment for dark circles, tear-trough hollowing or eye bags. Those concerns require separate assessment of their underlying cause.

What Happens During a Mesobotox Treatment?

Step 1 — Medical Assessment

Treatment begins by determining what is actually producing the visible concern.
 
For example, “large pores” may coexist with oily skin, acne scarring or loss of dermal support. Fine lines may result from muscle activity, skin ageing, photodamage or a combination of mechanisms.
 
The correct treatment can only be selected once that distinction has been made.
 

Step 2 — Treatment Planning

If Mesobotox is appropriate, the doctor determines:
  • treatment area;
  • botulinum-toxin product;
  • dose;
  • dilution;
  • injection depth;
  • distribution pattern; and
  • whether another treatment would address the concern more effectively.

Step 3 — Skin Preparation

The skin is cleansed and prepared.
 
Topical anaesthetic may be used depending on the area and individual sensitivity.
 

Step 4 — Superficial Microinjections

Very small quantities of product are placed through multiple superficial injection points across the selected area.
 
Temporary raised bumps, redness or pinpoint swelling may be visible immediately afterwards and usually settle.
 

Step 5 — Review

Results should be assessed after the product has had sufficient time to take effect.
 
Further treatment should depend on the clinical response rather than automatically following a fixed treatment package.

When Do Mesobotox Results Appear?

published review of Microbotox facial rejuvenation found that initial treatment effects were commonly reported within approximately 5–14 days, although onset varies according to technique, treatment area and individual response.Depending on the indication and individual response, patients may notice:
  • reduced surface oiliness;
  • less visible pore appearance;
  • smoother-looking superficial texture;
  • softening of selected fine lines; and
  • subtle refinement while retaining facial expression.
Results should be expected to be subtle rather than transformative.
 
Mesobotox cannot reproduce the effects of resurfacing, facial volumisation, surgical lifting or intensive skin-tightening treatment when those are what the patient actually requires.

How Long Does Mesobotox Last?

Published Microbotox literature commonly reports effects lasting approximately 3–6 months, although duration varies considerably.
 
Factors that can influence longevity include:
  • treatment area;
  • product used;
  • dose and dilution;
  • injection technique;
  • individual muscle activity;
  • sebaceous activity;
  • metabolism; and
  • treatment objective.
There is no evidence-based requirement that every patient undergo a routine course of two or three Mesobotox sessions.
 
Treatment may be performed once and then reassessed.
 
Future treatment should be guided by clinical response, duration of benefit and whether repeat treatment remains appropriate.

Does Mesobotox Give “Glass Skin”?

Mesobotox is sometimes promoted online as “glass-skin Botox.”
 
“Glass skin” is a cosmetic description rather than a medical diagnosis or measurable treatment endpoint.
 
A more useful clinical question is:
What is preventing the skin from looking smooth or refined?
If excess sebum, visible pores and selected superficial texture changes are important contributors, Mesobotox may be considered.
 
If the concern is predominantly dehydration, pigmentation, acne scarring, photodamage or laxity, another treatment is likely to be more appropriate.
 
Healthy human skin also naturally contains visible pores and texture.
 
The goal of treatment should be realistic refinement—not artificially poreless or filtered-looking skin.

This requires careful explanation.
 
Botulinum-toxin products have specific approved indications, dosing guidance and administration instructions that vary according to the product and regulatory jurisdiction.
 
The superficial intradermal Microbotox/Mesobotox technique may represent an off-label use depending on the product, indication, injection plane and jurisdiction.
 
For context, the official BOTOX Cosmetic prescribing information  in the United States describes specific approved cosmetic indications and intramuscular administration for its labelled cosmetic uses.
 
This should not be interpreted as a statement about every botulinum-toxin product or every regulatory jurisdiction.
 
Off-label treatment does not automatically mean inappropriate treatment. Off-label prescribing is used in many areas of medicine when supported by clinical judgement and appropriate evidence.
 
However, it makes:
  • appropriate patient selection;
  • anatomy;
  • product knowledge;
  • dose and dilution;
  • informed consent; and
  • understanding of the evidence
particularly important.

Is Mesobotox Safe?

Mesobotox is generally well tolerated in appropriately selected patients when performed by an experienced medical practitioner, but it is not risk-free.
 
Possible temporary treatment effects may include:
  • redness;
  • small injection bumps;
  • swelling;
  • tenderness;
  • bruising;
  • headache; or
  • temporary discomfort.
Because botulinum toxin affects neuromuscular signalling, unwanted spread to nearby structures can potentially cause effects such as:
  • temporary facial asymmetry;
  • unwanted weakening of adjacent muscles;
  • altered smile or lower-face movement;
  • brow or eyelid effects depending on treatment location; and
  • other area-dependent functional changes.
Risk depends on factors including:
 
dose + dilution + injection depth + anatomy + product + treatment area.
 
Botulinum-toxin products also have product-specific warnings, contraindications and precautions that should be reviewed before treatment.
 
“Superficial” should therefore never be interpreted as “risk-free.”

Who May Be Suitable for Mesobotox?

Mesobotox may be considered in selected adults whose concerns include:
  • prominent pore appearance;
  • excessive facial oiliness or shine;
  • selected fine superficial lines;
  • subtle superficial textural irregularity; and
  • preference for a treatment approach intended to preserve natural expression.
Suitability should not be determined by age alone.
 
A patient in their 20s does not automatically need “preventive Mesobotox,” and an older patient is not automatically unsuitable.
 
Treatment should be based on clinical indication, not an age bracket or social-media trend.

Who May Not Be Suitable for Mesobotox?

Treatment may be inappropriate, deferred or require further medical assessment in patients with factors including:
  • active infection or inflammation at the proposed injection site;
  • known hypersensitivity to the proposed product or its components;
  • certain neuromuscular disorders;
  • pregnancy or breastfeeding, where elective cosmetic treatment would generally be deferred;
  • medicines or medical conditions that may alter treatment risk; or
  • unrealistic expectations about what Mesobotox can achieve.
A complete medical history should be reviewed before treatment.

What Should You Tell Your Doctor Before Mesobotox?

Tell your treating doctor about:
  • prescription medicines;
  • anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication;
  • supplements;
  • previous botulinum-toxin treatment;
  • previous reactions to injectable treatment;
  • neurological or muscular disorders;
  • pregnancy or breastfeeding;
  • active skin conditions; and
  • recent facial procedures.
Do not stop prescribed medicines, including blood-thinning medication, simply because you are planning an aesthetic treatment.
 
Any change to prescribed medication should be discussed with the clinician responsible for that medication.
